Gonda: A divisional review meeting of the National Health Mission (NHM) for the Devipatan Division was held on Friday under the chairpersonship of Divisional Commissioner Durga Shakti Nagpal, who issued strict directions to health officials to ensure high-quality, accessible and timely healthcare services across the division.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) of Bahraich, Balrampur, Gonda and Shravasti, along with divisional and district-level health officials.
Reviewing the progress of various NHM programmes, the Commissioner made it clear that negligence in healthcare delivery would not be tolerated under any circumstances. She said providing quality healthcare to the public is the foremost responsibility of every official and warned that accountability would be fixed for lapses at any level.
A detailed assessment was carried out on key health initiatives, including maternal and child healthcare services, routine immunisation, institutional deliveries, the Anaemia Mukt Bharat campaign, the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (Ayushman Bharat), generation of ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) IDs under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, and the ongoing HPV vaccination campaign.
Nagpal directed officials to ensure 100 per cent immunisation coverage in all four districts, accelerate the creation of Ayushman cards and ABHA IDs for eligible beneficiaries, and maintain adequate availability of medicines, doctors and paramedical staff at health centres. She also stressed that hospitals should provide all essential facilities to patients and their attendants to ensure a hassle-free treatment experience.
The meeting also reviewed district-wise maternal mortality, neonatal mortality and infant mortality indicators. Officials assessed the functioning of Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric Care (CEmOC) services, institutional delivery facilities, First Referral Units (FRUs), Special Newborn Care Units (SNCUs), blood banks and blood storage units.
The Commissioner instructed that FRUs and SNCUs not operating at full capacity should be made fully functional on priority. She also called for extensive awareness campaigns to improve HPV vaccination coverage among eligible girls.
In addition, the review covered the Tuberculosis (TB) Elimination Programme, family planning services, urban health initiatives and other national health programmes. Nagpal directed all officials to ensure effective implementation of every health scheme in accordance with government priorities and achieve programme targets through continuous monitoring and timely action.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Medical Officers and Chief Medical Superintendents of all four districts, along with officials associated with the National Health Mission.
